Palisade Ogunka, widely known as Sky B, was a versatile musician originating from the Rukpakwulusi-Eliogbolo community in Obio/Akpor, Rivers State, Nigeria. Born in 1984 in River State, he grew up as a Port Harcourt local, making waves with his music that resonated across the South-Western region of Nigeria. Unlike some artists like Erigga, Sky B had a unique style that divided opinions among listeners, perhaps because it was ahead of its time.
Mixing pidgin English, a touch of ebonics, and plain English, Sky B’s music embodied the trendy Hip-dance sound of the 2000s, which was known for getting rappers airplay on radio. This style was arguably pioneered by Trybesmen. Among his repertoire, Sky B’s standout track was ‘I’m Calling (My Bebe),’ featuring X.Blue, which became his biggest hit, showcasing his talent and influence in the music scene.
